Doula Training

Began DONA Birth Doula training in late 2007.
  • DONA 3-day Birth Doula Workshop
  • Audited a 8-week Lamaze childbirth series
  • Audited a 12-week Bradley childbirth class series
  • Completed Basics of Lactation Management Self-Learning Program

Certified as a DONA Birth Doula in 2009.

Childbirth Educator Training

Began ALACE Childbirth Education training in late 2007.
Became a certified Baby Steps Teacher in September 2009.
  • Began teaching with Baby Steps
  • Attended the 2010 Baby Steps Teacher Training

Hosted and attended 3-day Lamaze Passion for Birth Seminar in July 2011.

Lead organizer of Georgia Birth Network's 2008 "World Breastfeeding Week" picnic at Red Top Mountain.

Lead organizer of Georgia Birth Network's & ICAN of Atlanta's Cesarean Awareness Rally, "Cutting Thru the Fear" outside Northside Hospital (2009 & 2011) and Piedmont Hospital (2010).

Organizer & instructor of Georgia Birth Network's 2010 Belly Casting Workshop.

Volunteer Work

Held a position as the Treasurer/Secretary on the Board of Directors for Georgia Birth Network from March 2009 - August 2010.

Held a position as the President on the Board of Directors for Georgia Birth Network from August 2010 - August 2011.

Affiliations

Member of and have previously held office for the Georgia Birth Network, which is focused on providing support, networking, advertising & education for its members & providing awareness within the community.

Member of ICAN of Atlanta, the Atlanta chapter of the International Cesarean Awareness Network, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth after Cesarean (VBAC).

Member of DONA International. DONA is the oldest, largest and most respected doula association in the world. We are an international, non-profit organization of doulas that strives to have every doula trained & educated to provide the highest quality support for birth to birthing women and their families.

Member of IBWP (International Birth & Wellness Project), formerly known as ALACE. The International Birth and Wellness Project is a health and social service entity designed to educate and support women and families towards a healthier pregnancy, birth, post-partum and parenting experience. We are a collective of health professionals focused on providing holistic services during the childbearing years.
