"Taking the Intuitive Birth class with Crystal was the best thing I could have ever done. She was a warm and friendly teacher and that helped to relax me about the upcoming classes. "You completely blew me away with your class and what's even more amazing you made a huge impression on hubby! He was dreading childbirth classes until you showed him. First weekend he was dreading it, second he was a little iffy but warming to the idea, next weekend he was looking forward to it and the final class he was sad it was ending. "I have to say that with Crystal's knowledge, patience, and extreme kindness, my birthing experience was AMAZING!!!
To begin, I actually contacted Crystal through Baby Steps, which I found after a lot of research. I initially wanted a doula, but it did not work out to my husband's and my satisfaction. I really feel it was a Godsend that it didn't because we would have never met Crystal. When I contacted Crystal, right from the start she was warm, kind, and very flexible. She even suggested coming out to our house for private classes. Which was wonderful as our schedule was super busy. She taught us everything from:
- Nurturing our baby and ourselves
- Breastfeeding
- Exercises
- Practicing a relaxation script daily
- Tracking my nutrition
- Massage techniques (this was great!!)
- Interesting tidbits about intuitive/natural birth (this really increased our knowledge).
- What to expect during the birthing process (and labor land... loved this!)
- Making a birthing plan (this was very needed and important)
- And, lastly anything - worst case scenario and how to deal with it.
And, what was so cool about Crystal is that she taught us effortlessly and we had a lot of fun doing it. She embraced our questions, concerns, and was always available via phone or e-mail for consultation. It's funny because, I called her when I went into labor, at the hospital, and after birth as she was mentally - me and my husband's birthing coach and we trusted her and her consultation through every step of the way.
When I went into labor on August 11, I did exactly as she said and stayed calm and relaxed as I was knowledgeable all stages. All was well and I checked into the hospital about 12 hours later as contractions were getting stronger and my focus was leaving. When we made it to the hospital, I just remember wanting to relax and not to be bothered as I was then in "Labor Land". The hospital staff of course wanted to hook me up to all these gadgets, but as she educated us, we were able to use our birthing plan to let them know our wants/needs - which worked out great. We did have a few bumps with the doctor - but again, with Crystal's teaching and she talked us through it. Then at 6:29 am Ms. Faryn was born on August 13, 2011 with no problems. She was a beautiful little girl, 8lbs 16 oz, and 20.5 in long - big girl huh!!!!
In closing, Crystal is (as she is family to us) a blessing in our family's life. She made my desired birthing experience come true. Thanks again Crystal - you are our blessing from God."
